Chromatic Odyssey is the title of my debut solo exhibition. The exhibition was showcased for 3 days at Amah Studio, Eleganza House, Lagos Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
Chromatic Odyssey is a 12 piece exhibition chronicling life with renderings of surreal landscapes bathed in saturated primary colors.
Each landscape and color corresponds to a distinct phase of life. The four stages – Achromatic, Yellow, Red, and Blue form a progression through the long, uneven journey of the human experience.
ACHROMATIC
This is the beginning of our existence, where light begins to sculpt shapes out of the black and grey. We are fetuses at this point in our “lives” without a sense of meaning, existing in a colorless unformed world where there is no painter yet to wield a brush and no canvas to paint on.

YELLOW
This is the warmth and safety of childhood, soft, bright, and naive. The yellow stage of existence represents true innocence. Children have not yet known life, its scalding heat, its sharp edges and dark corners. They live in a playful wondrous world. It is beautiful as it is fleeting.

RED
Red represents passion, vitality, desire and danger. it is the urgency of carving a path for ourselves. Fueled by the rapturous energy of ambition and fight for survival. It is the crucible where identity is tested and tempered. The violent process of giving form to who we are truly meant to be in this world.

BLUE
This is the culmination of experience, where the heat of earlier years cools into solid formation and structure. The blue stage of life holds weight and calmness, symbolizing wisdom, self-knowledge, and reconciliation with life’s journey. It is both stillness and depth.
Ultimately, life must come to an end, ice must melt, colors must fade and the odyssey must reach its melancholic conclusion.
